D.C. premiere screening at John Hopkins University Bloomberg Center on September 10 2024

Watching this film I was a lot more educated on realities of the unsheltered community and feel more deeply towards people experiencing homelessness. It also made me think about other displaced populations, such as refugees who are forced to leave their homes due to conflict or crisis. Which is something I care deeply about, so the film encouraged me to reflect on how social system and design can help change the world for the better by supporting vulnerable communities.

After watching the premiere all together, we collaborate with other university students to discuss better way to use design to improve housing crisis in America. An effective question that was raised during the workshop was, "What are things that have worked or is working to addressing homelessness?". Our group suggested looking at initiatives such as the Regulation of Non-profits and Philanthropy Project. These projects focuses on improving how non-profit organisations and charitable donations are regulated and managed. Because many homelessness programs are run by non-profit organisations, better policies can help ensure that funding and resources are used effectivity.
